England player ratings: Jordan Henderson shines as Marcus Rashford has a night to forget against Croatia

Here, SunSport's Charlie Wyett reveals who shone on the night… and who had a match to forget.

JORDAN PICKFORD: Clawed out a strike from former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric and got down to low to keep out Ivan Perisic’s strike. 7

KYLE WALKER:  Back in his preferred position of right-back. Solid enough at the back and also got forward well, particularly in the second half. 7

JOHN STONES: Delivered an excellent glancing header which hit the post – and booked for a tackle means he is suspended for Monday’s Spain game. Did well. 7

HARRY MAGUIRE: Some of his defending a bit clumsy although settled down. 6

BEN CHILWELL: Apart from one silly mistake in the second half which could have resulted in a goal, did well. A promising second appearance in a senior shirt. 6

JORDAN HENDERSON (STAR MAN): Harsh booking on six minutes means he will miss the game in Seville but he still gave everything, looked busy and his crossing was generally decent. 8

ERIC DIER: A few key tackles and blocks. Kept everything simple without making any major errors. 7

ROSS BARKLEY: First appearance for England since May 2016. Struggled early on with several mistakes and felt he should have got a penalty. 5

RAHEEM STERLING: Improved massively in the second half and was a livewire with some clever passing before being subbed. 7

HARRY KANE: Saw nothing of the ball until he sent a header crashing against the bar. Got the ball in the net but was offside. 5

MARCUS RASHFORD: Wasted two glorious chances when clean through – and the first miss was a real shocker. Simply does not look sharp enough. Disappointing. 4

Subs: Sancho (for Sterling) 78 mins. A couple of incredibly encouraging moments right at the end – and hopefully will get another chance against Spain. 6

Subs not used: Butland, Bettinelli, Trippier, Alexander-Arnold, Dunk, Gomez, Winks, Chalobah, Mount, Maddison.

Croatia: Livakovic 7, Jedvaj 6, Lovren 6, Vida 5, Pivaric 6, Kovacic 7 (Badelj 74 mins 6), Rakitic 7, Kramaric 6, Modric 7, Perisic 6 (Pjaca 68 mins 6), Rebic 5 (Livaja 81 mins 5).

Subs not used: Sluga, Bartolec, Milic, Mitrovic, Rog, Bradaric, Pasalic, Santini.
