Floyd Mayweather teases Khabib Nurmagomedov fight by claiming he is more famous in MMA than him and Conor McGregor

Mayweather defeated former UFC two-weight champion McGregor, 30, in ten rounds last August in what was a money grab cameo for The Notorious.

Since then Nurmagomedov recorded his own victory over McGregor, as he submitted the Irishman at UFC 229 in October.

After the win Nurmagomedov, 30, called out 'Money' to a boxing match, with Mayweather stating he is open to a second fight with a UFC champion.

The 41-year-old boxer recently said in a press-conference that he will ‘take care’ of the UFC lightweight champion – just like he did with McGregor.

Mayweather said: “Conor and Khabib are still bringing me up because like I said before, I’m the face of combat sports period, whether it’s boxing or MMA I’m the face of it all.

“I’m not worried about them guys, Conor McGregor he already know what happened, he ran his mouth – I took care of that.

“Khabib running his mouth, he want to get in there I’ll take care of him too.”

Mayweather is set to return to the boxing ring on December 31, when he takes on undefeated 20-year-old kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, with Japanease MMA promotion RIZIN FF promoting the bout.

The fight was at one point called out as Mayweather took to Instagram to claim that he never agreed for their bout to be televised, citing that it was supposed to be a behind closed door exhibition.

However, Mayweather would later retract his statement as he revealed that an agreement has been made for the 'special bout' to take place on the initial New Years Eve date.

It was revealed that the fight will take place as a nine-minute boxing exhibition – ending all speculation that Mayweather could make a switch to MMA.

Mayweather’s reluctance to compete under any ruleset other than boxing led the American to claim that a potential fight against Nurmagomedov cannot take place in MMA.

He said: “Everything is always on my terms, I’m the ‘A’ side, always, I’m not going to fight in the MMA ring, if I do fight in the MMA ring – boxing only, everything is my rules, my way, I worked hard to put myself in the position that I call all the shots.

“I’m not a f***ing degenerate, I’m not going to go into nobody’s cage and do what they do, if that’s the case I would’ve did that from the beginning.

“If anybody wants to compete against me or fight against me, it’s in a boxing ring.”
