Formula One: Esteban Ocon hopes to rediscover last season's form ahead of Force India's home Grand Prix at Silverstone

The UK-based team celebrated their 200th F1 race in Austria last weekend, which resulted in Ocon finishing sixth and his team-mate Sergio Perez in seventh.

Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix, Ocon said: “I enjoy Silverstone, it’s a very special week and very busy as it’s a home Grand Prix for the team.

“We start very early, from Sunday night onwards I will be there and I will stay for the whole week.

“It’s a very long week, especially after a triple header, but it’s fantastic.

"Because we can chat and work with engineers in the simulator.

"We know we have good things to do, like go to the factory, which is based in Silverstone, and see who is working and what’s going on at the factory.

“It’s a very cool week and the atmosphere is very special.”

Last season Force India comfortably finished behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship – but this term they have dropped off the pace and are also trialling Renault, McLaren and Haas.

But despite a tough start to the season, Ocon is encouraged and is confident the team can rediscover last season’s form.

The Frenchman added: “It’s not been the best start, certainly not the way we would have liked to.

“But pretty pleased with the way we have improved the car since then, I think we are a lot stronger than how we started.

"And especially in Monaco and Canada those races were quite strong pace wise, and I think we are really happy with the work we have done so far.

“I mean I am not frustrated, we didn’t start the way we wanted to and performance wise was not how we wanted to be at the beginning.

“It can improve, last year we were fighting close to the mid-field and at some points in some races we were a lot better than anyone in the mid-field and we were qualifying sixth and seventh all the time in a few races.

“So that’s what we are looking to get at, it will happen very quick at some point.”
