Frank Skinner sings Three Lions live on radio ahead of England’s Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine

COMEDY legend Frank Skinner sung 'Three Lions' on his radio show ahead of England's Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine.

The 64-year-old teamed up with fellow comedian David Baddiel and band The Lightning Seeds to record the iconic tune in 1996.

Skinner hosts a show on Absolute Radio every Saturday morning and couldn't help belting out a rendition of 'Three Lions' earlier today.

He struggled to keep a lid on his excitement ahead of England's knock-out clash with Ukraine this evening.

Skinner released the song with Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds 25 years ago to mark England hosting Euro '96.

It was the first time the country had hosted a major tournament since the national side won the World Cup in 1966.

'Three Lions' went on to become one of English football's greatest anthems, in part due to the success of Terry Venables' side at Euro '96.

The song always makes a comeback every time England play at a major tournament but became particularly prominent during their run to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018.

'Three Lions' has adopted a new meaning since then, with the 'Football's Coming Home' lyric alluding to a potential England victory at this summer's Euros.

Skinner and Baddiel were one of the biggest comedy duos of the nineties, hosting the Fantasy Football League on ITV between 1994 and 1996.

Skinner is a fan of Championship side West Brom, while Baddiel supports Chelsea.

Englishmen everywhere will be belting out their own rendition of 'Three Lions' as Gareth Southgate's side take on Ukraine.

England are expected to beat the underdogs and face either Czech Republic or Denmark in the last four.

Should they reach the final on Sunday, July 11, they will face either Italy or Spain in the showpiece event at Wembley.
