Gareth Bale transfer news – latest odds: MLS clubs, Cardiff and Spurs in the mix as Bale prepares to leave Real Madrid

GARETH BALE is leaving Real Madrid – and could be heading back to the UK.

Bale's final game – if selected – will be as Madrid face Real Betis on Friday night.

And while he might not get the reception he deserves he will already be looking ahead to his next opportunity.

Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett confirmed that his client will be exiting the Bernabeu after a turbulent eight-year spell.

The 32-year-old has barely featured this season, making just four starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions.

His departure has been inevitable for months given his contract expires in June.

And agent Barnett has suggested a return to the UK was Bale's most likely destination.

However, his future in football or early retirement hinges on whether or not Wales qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

He told Portuguese outlet Record: "Gareth is leaving Real Madrid, but we have to wait for what Wales do.

"It all depends on whether his national team qualifies for the World Cup, then we will make a decision, which may vary if Wales go to the World Cup or not.

"Is it more likely to return to England? I think so, but we'll have to wait and see if Wales qualify."

Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in September 2013 for a then world record £85.3million deal.

But now available for free — there's no shortage of contenders for his signature.

Bookmakers Betfair think he's heading Stateside with a move to the MLS priced at 5/4, narrowly ahead of Cardiff at 15/8.

A sensational return to Tottenham is available at 9/2, with Newcastle and AC Milan offered at 10/1 and 14/1 respectively.

He could potentially join compatriot Aaron Ramsey at Rangers (16/1), while Inter Milan, Celtic, Juventus, Manchester United and Villarreal are all locked together at 20s.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom: "Gareth Bale’s complicated relationship with Real Madrid may be over and the MLS is his most likely destination with any club in the US division 5/4 to pick him up this summer.

"A return to the UK could be on the cards and Cardiff are the shortest-priced club at 15/8 to sign the Welsh forward.

"Spurs are next at 15/2 with Newcastle 15/2 and AC Milan 14/1."
