GERVONTA DAVIS wrecked Rolly Romero with another devastating left hand.
The undefeated 27-year-old sensation made a cagey start to the New York clash.
But the Baltimore southpaw unleashed a vicious sixth-round counter hook that floored his foe and got him saved by the referee.
The tattooed Floyd Mayweather protege went into his last contracted fight with the ring legend as his promoter, threatening to strike out on his own.
And he showed exactly how thrilling a free agent he could be by biding his time and savaging Romero in the middle of the bout.
Mayweather was a glaring absence from ringside, signalling that their master-student relationship might really be over this time.

Mayweather played a crucial role on the 2021 win over Mario Barrios, expertly warning Tank he was behind on the unofficial cards and needed a KO he landed soon after.
When neither Mayweather nor Davis attended the post-fight press conference, it was left to assistant Leonard Ellerbe to refuse to answer any questions on the fractious partnership.
But he insisted that Davis remains a part of their TMT promotional stable, despite the KO artist painting a very different picture.

But the previously undefeated underdog was shrewd enough to hold and tough enough to remain upright.
Davis was even shook with a big right hand in the fifth when Romero threatened a huge upset.
But when Romero tried a similar shot in the following round he was chinned and floored.
The trash talker went face-first into the ropes and head first down to the canvas.
With just a few seconds of the round to survive, Romero beat the count but he was in a terrible tangle.
