Good, bad and ugly: Josh Gordon’s troubled career in football

There’s never been any doubt about Josh Gordon’s talent.

On the field, the man nicknamed “Flash” makes football look easy, but his life outside the lines has been anything but a walk in the park.

From his time at Baylor to Thursday’s announcement he was stepping away from football “for a bit” to focus on his mental health, Gordon’s career has been plagued with off-field issues. He’s battled substance abuse since he was in middle school, and his addictions led to multiple suspensions, leading to a career where he hasn’t been active for a full NFL season since his rookie year.

NFL Network reported that Gordon is facing another suspension for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the league’s substance abuse policy.

Here’s a look back at Gordon's checkered career:

Baylor University

During his sophomore year, Gordon and a teammate were found asleep in a Taco Bell drive-thru. Police found marijuana in the car, leading to Gordon’s first suspension. A year later in July 2011, he was suspended indefinitely by former Baylor head coach Art Briles for failing a drug test and testing positive for marijuana.
