How Man Utd could line-up next season as Solskjaer demands new striker, winger and centre-back to play with Maguire

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be interested in signing a trio of new players this summer.

It's claimed that the Red Devils will go after a winger, striker and centre-back… and United fans should be salivating at the prospect.

With the likes of Jadon Sancho, Kalidou Koulibaly and Raul Jimenez all having been linked, United could look like real title contenders next season.

But with existing stars Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood, to name just a few, looking the part already – how could Solskjaer fit all of his star names into the team?

Let's take a look.

David de Gea has been particularly blunder-prone in the last couple of seasons, but goalkeeper isn't a priority for United… although Dean Henderson may have something to say about the Spaniard's No1 status…

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw have improved as the season has gone on and look certainties to continue in Solskjaer's Old Trafford project.

Brandon Williams, at just 19, has shown himself to be a very capable footballer at this level in his 35 appearances this season and should expect to still be involved a reasonable amount next term – particularly with his ability to play on both flanks.

Diogo Dalot may have a chance to prove his worth should he shake off his injury woes – but Timothy Fosu-Mensah's days at the club look numbered.

Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have been jostling for the position of skipper Harry Maguire's defensive partner over recent weeks.

But if Solskjaer, 47, gets his way – Napoli superstar Kalidou Koulibaly could provide the former Leicester central defender with the perfect co-star at the back.

This will push the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling ever closer to the exit, with the survivors of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign now looking out of place in Solskjaer's new regime – talented youngster Axel Tuanzebe, however, could stick around.

Indications of Paul Pogba's willingness to re-enter contract talks should have United fans jumping for joy, with the box office World Cup winner playing well alongside Nemanja Matic in recent weeks.

The Serb has had an amazing renaissance in the last few months, leading to him being handed a new three-year contract – although Scott McTominay will still be determined to take the shirt back from his more experienced competitor next season.

Fred has also contributed nicely this season and will be kept around, although the likes of Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata may no longer fit in at Old Trafford.

Youngster James Garner could potentially get more minutes, however.

Should United be successful in prising No1 target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, they will have one of the world's most exciting players on their hands.

But teenage sensation Mason Greenwood isn't going to give up his position in the team that easily – having netted four goals in his last three games and 18 strikes overall this season.

Bruno Fernandes' arrival played a huge part in sparking United's current 17-match unbeaten run – and the Portuguese superstar will continue knitting things together next time around.

Rashford and Martial have both enjoyed outstanding campaigns this season, providing United's frontline with pace, skill and ample finishing ability.

But their manager may well be interested in signing a more traditional No9, perhaps for certain kinds of matches.

And Wolves forward Raul Jimenez would appear to fit the bill, with the Mexican having bagged 24 goals for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season.

One casualty of United's new-look side could be Daniel James, with the Welshman potentially being touted for loan moves next season.

Odion Ighalo, who has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at his dream club, will return to Shanghai Shenhua next season with happy memories from Old Trafford – but is unlikely to return on a more permanent basis.
