Inter Milan call up five academy teens including a 16-year-old for Europa League clash with Frankfurt

Luciano Spalletti's side drew 0-0 during the first-leg tie in Germany but are without a number of first-team stars for the crunch game at the San Siro.

Chelsea and Arsenal target Luka Jovic will be part of Frankfurt's squad but Inter's striker Mauro Icardi has once again been ruled out through injury.

The Argentine missed training with an apparent sore knee as his contract stand-off rolls on after he demanded Inter apologise for stripping him off the captaincy.

Radja Nainggolan has failed to recover from an ankle injury meaning Spalleti has turned to the Nerazzurri's academy to fill the bench.

Gabriele Zappa, 19, Lorenzo Gavioli, 19, Thomas Schiro, 18, Davide Merola, 18, and Sebastiano Esposito, 16, have all been training with the first-team this week.

Esposito, who has earned rave reviews for the club’s youth teams, as well as Italy’s Under-16 side, has been tracked by both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund.

The young striker is set to provide cover for the returning Keita Balde Diao, who will likely play up front in the absence of Icardi and the suspended Lautaro Martinez.

Elsewhere, Kwadwo Asamoah will also serve a one-match ban, but Marcelo Brozovic has been passed fit to feature from the bench after a recent thigh strain.

Last weekend saw Inter end a three-game winless run by beating SPAL 2-0 in Serie A as the Italian club aims for their first piece of silverware since 2011.
