Jerry Jones addresses rumors linking Cowboys to Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was definitive Tuesday responding to a report that his team considered moving on from play-caller Scott Linehan before the season and again during the bye week.
“Completely false,” Jones said in his radio show on 105.3 The Fan. “Totally false. That was never, ever a discussion. Never a thought on my part.”
Then the conversation turned to reports of the Cowboys' potential interest in Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley.
“Again, that would be totally, totally drawing it out of the air,” Jones said.
But he added, “I think Lincoln Riley is outstanding and what he’s doing is real, real impressive. It doesn’t surprise me (with his) success… that in conversations about the Cowboys changing coaches, that a coach of his stature would come into the picture.”
Jones capped off his praise reiterating that an NFL Network report of the Cowboys having an “affinity” for Riley was “total speculation.”
