Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kept fans guessing when he was asked about his plans for the final day of the transfer window.
Having completed the signings of Naby Keita, Alisson, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, Klopp was expected to be content with his summer business.
But as Thursday’s deadline approaches, the German did not rule out a surprise in the coming days.
He said: "I can’t kill your D-Day! People sit the whole day in front of the TV, seeing who buys and sells who. I won’t watch it because I’ll be working."
Klopp also admitted there are likely to be departures from Anfield with goalkeeper Simon Mignolet among those free to leave.
“If any player from my team is available, then in every other situation in my life as a manager I would have bought all of them, to be honest. They are all fantastic boys, they are able to play fantastic football," added Klopp.
“In this moment, the squad would be too big, that’s true. But it’s not that that means for us that we give them for free or something like that, Liverpool is strong enough to keep all these players and then we deal with that.
“We are not there to make other teams stronger, that’s not our job.”
Liverpool complete their pre-season campaign against Torino on Tuesday following a 5-0 win over Napoli on Saturday.
