Klopp to insist on Asensio Liverpool transfer after agent revealed £155m bid last summer

JURGEN KLOPP will reportedly push Liverpool chiefs to sign Real Madrid superstar Marco Asensio this summer.

Mundo Deportivo claims the attacking midfielder, 23, was a target for the Reds last year

Asensio’s agent recently claimed Real rejected a bid worth £155million from an unnamed club after the World Cup.

Horacio Gaggioli told ESPN: “Marco is thinking about next season and winning again with Real Madrid.

“Last year, Real Madrid rejected an offer of £155m for him.

“Marco says he’s very happy at the club and he just wants to succeed there.”

It’s unknown if Liverpool were behind the mammoth offer.

But the report says that Klopp was disappointed to miss out on Asensio.

And he is now determined more than ever to bring the Spaniard to Anfield as Liverpool risk finishing the campaign with no trophies.

The Reds are one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race with just a single game remaining.

And they are 3-0 down to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Liverpool will be forced into a makeshift attack against the La Liga champions tonight, with Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino both out injured.

Klopp now wants to ensure that the Reds have sufficient depth in quality, and Asensio could be keen to make the switch after seeing his Bernabeu minutes diminish this term.

He's only started 18 La Liga matches and two Champions League games, and it remains to be seen if Zinedine Zidane plans to include him in Real's starting XI next season.
