Leeds get boost as Bielsa goes car shopping… but fans joke that 'the wheels will come off'

LEEDS boss Marcelo Bielsa has given a huge hint he's staying as manager – by going car shopping.

Following the Whites' play-off semi-final defeat to Derby, rumours mounted that the Argentine boss would leave his role this summer.

But one fan snapped the 63-year-old in a car showroom at the weekend, posting on Twitter that it is "a good sign that he's here to stay".

However rival fans flooded the post, poking fun at Bielsa and Leeds' failure to gain promotion to the Premier League.

The Yorkshire side were top of the Championship at Christmas, with fans starting to believe they would end their 15-year exile from the top flight.

But injuries, suspensions and the infamous "spygate" scandal rocked the club, and they had to settle for a third-place finish.

It is the perfect car for him, quick off the lights but easy then to catch and pass half way up the road

Then, despite winning 1-0 away at Derby in the play-off first leg, Leeds lost 4-2 at Elland Road, meaning another season in the Football League.

One Sheffield United fan commented on the photo of Bielsa in the showroom, writing: "He needs to make sure it has a large boot so he has somewhere to put the wheels, when they inevitably fall off around February/March time."

Paul Harrison said that the Volkswagon hatchback he was stood next to was the "perfect car for him, quick off the lights but easy then to catch and pass half way up the road".

Mawgen Hogg wondered "how many bottle holders" the vehicle came with, in reference to the players failing to get promotion.

Another Sheffield United fan wrote: "His old one has been stalling a lot since Christmas."

Isaac Fryer posted that he "wouldn't be surprised if the wheels fell off again", while Leeds fan Lewis Carter wrote: "I think he’s looking for something automatic this year."

Bielsa is expected to reveal his future later this week.
