The lengths Klopp has gone to in order to secure £61.5m Fekir deal

Jurgen Klopp has met with Nabil Fekir personally to encourage him to move to Liverpool, according to reports.

The Lyon forward has been linked with a €70million move to Anfield this summer, with the Reds said to be ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea in the chase for his signature.

A five-year deal for Fekir is on the table – with negotiations also including a transfer for his brother, Yassin, who would link up Liverpool’s Under-23 squad.

Fekir refused to rule out a summer move to Liverpool when he was quizzed on the speculation this weekend.

And now Canal Plus in France are claiming that the France international has already met with Klopp.

"I heard these rumours. For now, I am in Lyon," Fekir said.

"There are still two games left and we are preparing for them in the best way possible.

"At the end of the season, we will see. The Champions League with Lyon? Of course I want that. It’s the club of my heart, as you know."

Fekir has scored 20 goals for his club this season and has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

But Lyon’s president revealed he has not yet received an official bid for the player.

"No. If we had negotiated and signed [a deal], I would be the first to know," Jean-Michel Aulas said.

"There hasn’t been contact with Liverpool. I am a bit surprised by this story. I also want to say there was no agreement in Nabil’s contract allowing him to leave."
