Liverpool handed huge boost for their Champions League clash with PSG as both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have suffered injuries this evening

The Brazilian star lasted just six minutes of the fixture at MK Dons, before grimacing and being forced to call it a day, which could cast doubt over his inclusion in PSG's clash with Jurgen Klopp's men.

Fans groaned and jeered as Neymar gave up his captain's armband and was subbed off, after suffering a thigh injury.

But the news may be better received by Liverpool who are due to travel to Parc des Princes next week for their Champions League group stage clash.

In the opening few minutes, Neymar attempted to send a ball into the box but in doing so he appeared to pull a muscle and fell to the floor.

The world's most expensive player lay on the ground as he struggled to fight back the tears, he was ushered off shortly after and was embraced on the sideline by Tite.

His compatriot Roberto Firmino checked to see he was okay, but it could now mean the pair do not face each other next week.

Brazil's squad has plenty of depth, which meant that Everton striker Richarlison was called upon to replace the PSG ace.

Richarlison then found the back of the net for the Samba Boys just before the half-time whistle.

Neymar's outings for his national side have not quite gone as he would have expected.

Earlier this week, the striker was involved in an ugly confrontation with his PSG club-mate Edison Cavani during Brazil's 1-0 international friendly win over Uruguay.

While many slammed the world's most expensive player for his theatrical diving, Cavani was left bemused and frustrated.
