Man City’s on-loan winger Daniel Arzani out for the rest of Celtic's season with debut knee injury

The 19-year-old ace, on a two year loan from the Citizens, lasted just 22 minutes before being stretchered off against Dundee.

And today the Aussie confirmed the injury is as serious as expected.

He tweeted: "Thank you to everyone who has taken the time out of their day to show support and love.

"Unfortunately I will need an ACL Op, ruling me out till next season!

"This is a tough time for me but also a chance to improve and come out of this better than ever!"

Arzani is widely considered as one of the hottest young talents coming through the ranks after excelling for Australia at this summer's World Cup.

The injury is a cruel blow to the playmaker, who was previously at Melbourne City before joining sister club Manchester City in August.

And it's also a frustrating blow to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – who lost Ivorian midfielder Eboue Kouassi to a knee injury in Celtic's win over Hearts.

Rodgers said: "It's hugely disappointing for both boys because they have been on the sidelines working their way through and in the last week they have been given opportunities, and both are innocuous really.

"Daniel's was a twist where his studs stayed in the grass and twisted his knee."
