Manchester City have confirmed the signing highly-rated French midfielder Claudio Gomes from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues have landed the 18-year-old on a free transfer after his contract with the Ligue 1 champions expired.
Gomes has already begun training with City’s first team on their US pre-season tour, but the champions waited until his 18th birthday on Monday before making the deal official.
Pep Guardiola could not hide his delight at acquiring the player and revealed how he has already left a positive impression.
"He has been so good, so good," Guardiola revealed before then suggesting a loan move is likely.
"My opinion is that at that age you have to play," Guardiola added. "You need minutes, if not with us then with the second team.
"But it could be like what happened with Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz – he could stay with us, because from what we have seen in these days, the impression is good, so good."
Gomes has shown shades of N’Golo Kante and had been labelled the finest of his age group in the highly-rated PSG academy.
