Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic 'flattered' by Jose Mourinho interest as Red Devils boss watches Serbia beat Montenegro in stands

The midfielder came off the bench during Serbia’s 2-0 win over neighbours Montenegro, grabbing the assist for Aleksandr Mitrovic’s second of the game.

SunSport understands Red Devils boss Mourinho was in town to watch Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic and teammate Nikola Milenkovic, a 20-year-old centre-back who plays for Fiorentina.

Both men have been in fine form for their Serie A clubs this season.

And it’s believed Mourinho fancies bringing both of them to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

Milinkovic-Savic was strongly linked with an Old Trafford switch over the summer before eventually penning a new long-term contract.

But he admits he was thrilled by Mourinho’s presence in the crowd.

Milinkovic-Savic said: “I am a Lazio player but it’s obvious that I was pleased that a coach of his stature came to watch the match.

“I read a little bit everywhere he was here at the stadium to see me play but that doesn’t mean anything.

“Maybe he was not here for me, but for someone else.”
