Mateo Kovacic ‘targeted by Manchester United and others’

Manchester United face Italian competition for the signature of Mateo Kovacic, according to reports in Spain.

The Real Madrid midfielder is free to leave Real at the right price this summer and United are one of the teams considering a move.

But according to Cadena Cope, Juventus and Roma are both also weighing up a potential deal.

Kovacic has recently spoke about his time at Real and admitted that trying to find more frequent starts was a thought for him.

He said: "I understand the situation, but because of that I believe the best thing for me would be to go to another club where I’d have the opportunity to play regularly as a starter."
