Matt Chapman horse racing tips: I've unearthed a HUGE 10-1 shout on the first day of the York Ebor Festival | The Sun

STEPPED up in trip can Baaeed go from top class to one of the all-time greats?

That's the big question at York on the opening day of the Ebor Festival.

I can't wait to get working away on track for ITV this afternoon, because there's no doubt Baaeed's date with destiny in the feature Juddmonte International takes place in one of the world's most annually anticipated races.

And it's been won by some of racing's biggest heroes, including Baaeed's sire Sea the Stars and Frankel, arguably the greatest equine beast of all time.

Baaeed goes over a mile and a quarter for the first time, and while he's shown blistering fractions over a mile everything about his running style suggests the trip is going to be right up his street.

I won't be having a bet in the Group 1 smash up, as I'm just hoping BAAEED smashes up Mishriff and Native Trail for William Haggas and Jim Crowley.

And as I said in my Saturday column, victory would be a huge tonic for Haggas's wife, Maureen, who broke two bones in her neck the other day and will be watching from home.

York's Ebor meeting on ITV starts with a heritage handicap over an extended 5f.

As long as stall one is not a massive disadvantage, there is no doubt that MAKANAH has strong each way claims for Julie Camacho and Paul Hanagan.

We’ll just have to take the draw on trust, but a mark of 101 is workable for my selection.

Dropping back to 5f will be ideal after just fading late on in the 6f Stewards' Cup at Goodwood last time.

He still ran a cracker then. Worth a few quid each way.

The Group 3 Acomb Stakes is for juveniles over 7f.

It's impossible to know what he achieved first time out at Newmarket, but LOCAL DYNASTY put up a very good effort to win easily having got loose before the race.

The son of Dubawi is clearly talented and hails from the strong Charlie Appleby stable with William Buick on top.

Connections have a good line on big danger Mill Stream via Noble Style.

St Leger possibles in the Group 2 Voltigeur for colts and geldings who are 3yo over 1m4f.

Really frustrating there are not eight runners in here!

Hard to oppose SECRET STATE with Appleby saddling the likely top two in the market and sticking William Buick on my selection.

Secret State was suggested to be a Doncaster hope after his Goodwood win last time and seems to be improving with every race.

Finally on ITV a handicap over an extended 2m.

ROCK EAGLE has runs to his name that makes me feel he has an each way chance now rated 98.

They include a fifth in the Cesarewitch off 100 and his form this season suggests he's capable of still running to that kind of level.

I'll back him each way for Ralph Beckett and Rob Hornby. Good luck!
