Matthias Ginter hugged by wife in hospital after fracturing jaw and eye-socket in horror head clash for Borussia Monchengladbach

The Borussia Monchengladbach and Germany star was stretchered off the pitch after a horror head clash during Sunday’s 4-1 win over Hanover.

Ginter collided with Noah Sharenren Bazee, leaving both with bloody heads and the latter with concussion.

But it turns out Ginter had suffered the worst damage after being taken to hospital.

The former Borussia Dortmund ace was diagnosed with a fractured eye socket AND jawbone.

And he has since undergone surgery to fix the problems, sparking an emotional picture from his wife Christina, who labelled him: “My everything.”

Reflecting on the incident, Ginter said: “Yes I know, everything still looks awkward and the laughter doesn’t work properly, but otherwise I’m fine.

“With the head/brain everything is fine and the eye luckily did not get anything, so again had luck in misfortune.

“The operation went according to plan and now the healing process begins.

“Thank you for your huge sympathy from the many different fan groups. I will be back as soon as possible.”
