The money-spinning figures behind Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United
The enormity of Manchester United’s outlay to land Alexis Sanchez in January has been laid bare.
Sanchez moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal, as Jose Mourinho landed the Chile star just months after Pep Guardiola had made him his No.1 target with Manchester City.
Sanchez, 29, arrived amid great fanfare, joining in a swap deal from the Gunners and taking the Red Devils’ iconic No.7 shirt.
He also joined for a guaranteed £390,000 per week.
But according to Football Leaks, as published by the Daily Mail, the numbers don’t stop there, and Sanchez stands to earn himself more than £25million per year if he hits all his targets.
The confidential contract information of a number of leading Premier League players has been published by the German magazine Der Spiegel in the book Football Leaks: Uncovering The Dirty Deals Behind the Beautiful Game.
And it highlights just how much Sanchez stands to earn from his four-and-a-half year deal with United.
On top of Sanchez’s supposed basic salary of £391,000 each week, he is allegedly paid a £75,000 bonus for every first team game he starts.
Additionally, he is also promised an annual £1.1million signing on fee. Moreover, a further £1million heads his way if United win the Champions League, £500,000 if they land the Premier League title.
He could also land £2million if he reaches a combination of 40 goals and assists.
