Montreal Canadiens trade captain Max Pacioretty to Vegas Golden Knights

Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Tomas Tatar, Nick Suzuki and a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, the teams announced late Sunday night.

The trade ends seemingly months of speculation that Pacioretty would be moved.

Pacioretty was drafted by the Canadiens in the first round of the 2007 draft, and he had accumulated 226 goals and 222 assists (448 points) in 626 games since making his debut in the 2008-09 season. The American was named captain of the bleu-blanc-rouge prior to the 2015-16 season.

Pacioretty is coming off the worst full season of his career, with just 17 goals and 20 assists in 64 games. But prior to last year the 29-year-old had put up four straight seasons of 30 or more goals, and had an additional 30-goal season in 2011-12.
