NBA players have agreed to take a 25 per cent pay cut as the sport continues to protect itself during the coronavirus crisis.
The National Basketball Players Association agreed a deal with the NBA which will see the players have gradual reduction in salaries in case the pandemic wipes out the rest of the regular season.
According to ESPN, the money will be placed in escrow, a temporary measure where assets are held by a third party, and will be repaid should the remaining fixtures be completed.
If the season doesn't get fully completed, the money will be repaid on a pro rata basis with the pay deferral to begin in May.
Stars such as Steph Curry and LeBron James will see their giant wage's reduced to help secure the future of the sport.
Curry was set to earn a reported £32million from this season with James preparing to cash in £30m but both will see those reduced with the deferrals set to make a difference.
