Odell Beckham’s worrisome first words: ‘S–t ain’t right’

Odell Beckham Jr. is not exactly sure what to call the injury to his quadriceps — a bruise or a contusion — but he is certain of one thing.

“S–t ain’t right,” Beckham said Thursday in his first extended comments since the injury was revealed Friday.

Instead of trying to practice Thursday, the wide receiver took a trip to the Hospital for Special Surgery for what coach Pat Shurmur called “further evaluation” on his quad.” Beckham said he got scans done to see if the injury had changed since last week — what he called “a reassurance thing” — but is still unsure of his status for Sunday against the Titans.

“It’s doing much better than it was,” Beckham said. “Take it a day at a time, that’s really it.”

Beckham was limited in Wednesday’s practice, taking part in stretching and some individual drills before going off to the side and getting more treatment inside. He had been a full participant all of last week until Friday, when the injury was revealed, and Beckham was limited before being declared out for the game.

Asked if the further evaluation meant Beckham had a setback, Shurmur said no.

“We’re just getting it checked out,” Shurmur said. “It doesn’t mean anything.”
