Patriots safety Patrick Chung indicted for cocaine possession

New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung was indicted on Aug. 8 for cocaine possession, according to multiple reports.

According to the Boston Herald, the Belknap County Attorney’s Office in New Hampshire said the incident occurred “on or about June 25.”

“We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung. We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place,” the Patriots said in a statement.

Chung, 32, has been a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams with the Patriots, including last year’s squad. He is entering his 11th NFL season, all but one of which has been with the Patriots; he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013.

The Patriots selected Chung in the second round, No. 34 overall, in the 2009 NFL Draft. Chung played through a torn rotator cuff last season, according to The Athletic, and he suffered a broken arm in the Super Bowl.
