David Peever has resigned as chairman of Cricket Australia.
The CA board met this afternoon by phone hook-up on which the under-siege Peever told fellow directors he was quitting. Earl Eddings is his temporary replacement as interim chairman.

Peever had been under intense pressure since the release on Monday of The Ethics Centre's damning review of the culture at CA. The report painted a picture of an "arrogant and controlling" organisation that had wider responsibility for the ball tampering crisis in South Africa.
Peever was last week voted in for a second three-year term by the states, who had not seen the report before the AGM.
Rumblings of discontent within the states began soon after the Longstaff report was made public and built in the past two days.
It technically required four of the six states to remove Peever at an extraordinary general meeting but in the end it did not come to that as Peever fell on his sword.
