Roger Federer cruises in Round of 16 match at US Open, dominates David Goffin in three sets
Roger Federer continued his run at the U.S. Open by easily dispatching David Goffin on Sunday in the Round of 16 match.
Under an open roof at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Federer took the match in three sets: 6-2, 6-2, 6-0. The match lasted just one hour and 18 minutes.
“It was great,” Federer told ESPN in an interview after the match. “I had a great feeling today like I had in other matches.”
No. 3 seed Federer aced No. 15-seeded Goffin 10 times, while Goffin did not score one. Federer outpaced Goffin in winners 35-8. The two tied in unforced errors with 17 each.
Federer completely dominated from all areas, winning net points on 19 of 23 tries.

Federer will now face the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and Australian Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals. It is his 13th appearance in the U.S. Open quarterfinals.
The match between Dimitrov and de Minaur will take place later Sunday.
