Here are seven things we learnt from Raw last night.
Braun Strowman v Baron Corbin at TLC is happening
Bazza Corbin opened Raw with a promo on Braun Strowman and their upcoming match at TLC.
Stood with Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre – the men who helped Corbin shatter Braun’s elbow last week – Corbin said he’d sent a camera to the hospital where Braun was awaiting surgery.
The Monster appeared on the Titan Tron and informed fans he WILL be a TLC, despite needing surgery.
Back in the ring, Corbin agreed that the match is still scheduled, but there’s no way Strowman will be medically cleared to compete.
He said: “When Braun Strowman fails to show up, I win by forfeit and I am the new permanent general manager of Monday Night Raw.”
Will the Monster be at TLC? Something tells us Baron Corbin is in for a nasty shock at the
Elias and Finn Balor are beaten men
After the Braun v Baron announcement, Elias interrupted the three heels and led the fans in a chorus of his new song – “Bobby Lashley sucks.”
Elias then faced Lashley one-on-one and had Lashley beat with a top rope elbow – but Lashley’s hype man Lio Rush pulled the referee out of the ring for a DQ.
Baron Corbin restarted the match, making it a no DQ.
The heels hammered Elias with chairs and Drew McIntyre hit a brutal-looking Alabama Slam to the steel steps. Lashley then covered Elias for the win.
The power-mad carnage continued later in the night when Corbin battled Finn Balor.
As Balor took control of the match, Bazza grabbed the mic and announced it was now a 2-on-1 handicap match and brought out Drew McIntyre.
Balor fought gallantly but Drew hit the Claymore Kick for the win and Bobby Lashley returned for a 3-on-1 beat-down on Balor.
Ronda Rousey wants to rip off Nia Jax’s arm and slap Charlotte Flair with it
Big words. But that’s exactly what Ronda promised to she’d do last night when she went face-to-face with Nia.
Ronda then offered Nia to fight for the Raw Women’s Championship right there and then, but Nia refused and stalled, allowing Tamina Snuka to get in position for an ambush.
Before they could attack, Ronda’s pal Natalya charged to the ring to make the save – but was herself attacked by the Riott Squad mid-way.
Ronda jumped out of the ring to fight of the Squad and help up Natalya.
Ah well, just another week that Natalya must rue the day she ever made friends with Ronda Rousey.
Dolph Ziggler answered Seth Rollins’ open challenge
Rollins confirmed before Raw that he’d be issuing an open challenge for the Intercontinental Championship – which was answered by his old rival Dolph Ziggler.
The last time that Ziggler answered a Rollins’ challenge, he beat “The Kingslayer” for the IC title. But this was Rollins’ night.
As usual it was a big bumping, high octane thriller from the pair and Rollins retained when he hit Ziggler with a super-plex and rolled through for a falcon arrow.
Alexa Bliss now runs the women’s division
Baron Corbin extended his authority backstage by putting Alexa Bliss in charge of the Raw women’s division.
Alexa’s first call of duty was to host a Q&A session with Sasha Banks and Bayley, which turned into Banks and Bayley hurling skin-crawlingly bad insults at Alexa.
Bliss’s cronies Mickie James, Alicia Fox, and Dana Brooke jumped Banks and Bayley from behind. But Banks and Bayley got the upper hand and sent the heels packing.
It’s good news that the charming Alexa Bliss is now in a featured spot on the mic – she’s always a great promo.
But this looks like the start of another worthless feud for the criminally underused Sasha Banks and Bayley.
Dean Ambrose has had his shots
Ambrose appeared for a promo in a doctor’s office, where he was getting immunisations for a range of diseases – flu, dysentery, rabies.
He said he’d rather get shots than visit the toxic dump of Milwaukee – where Raw was being held – because the fans there are vermin like Seth Rollins.
Ambrose’s heel shtick is amusing enough but the skit was as subtle as a giant needle to the backside.
He told Rollins: “There is no medicine that can cure the sickness in your soul.”
But can Ambrose cleanse Rollins of the IC title when they meet at TLC next week?
Lars Sullivan is STILL coming to WWE despite controversy
NXT call-up Lars Sullivan has been at the centre of online scandal after it was revealed he’d made controversial remarks on a body building message board several years ago.
It was reported that Sullivan had posted racist and homophobic remarks, as well as controversial comments about rape.
With Hulk Hogan banished from WWE for three years after using racist slurs, fans wondered if Lars Sullivan would be canned before he’d even made his much-hyped debut.
But WWE confirmed he’s still heading to the main roster last night with a promo package on his imminent arrival.
The question now is not whether Sullivan will be fired, but which brand the “free agent” be will signed to – Raw or SmackDown?
