Shocking pictures as fighting breaks out among Marseille fans
The build-up to the Wednesday night’s Europa League final was marred by fighting in the stands.
One supporter was left bloodied at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon as Marseille prepared to take on Atletico Madrid.
Two fans were embroiled in a punch-up half an hour before kick-off.
It is unclear who they were in Lyon to support with fans of both sides in that particular part of the stadium.
As our video footage shows, one of those involved was badly cut around his left eye as he argued with others before being dragged away by a steward.
Other pictures appeared to show Marseille fans fighting among themselves as several stewards were called into action.
There had been a friendly atmosphere in the city in the hours leading up to kick-off and the vast majority of fans carried that into the ground.
Both clubs were allocated just 11,552 tickets each for the showpiece event at a ground which holds almost 60,000.
Atletico had seen off Arsenal in the semi-finals to reach Lyon while Marseille knocked out Red Bull Salzburg.
