Sir Alex Ferguson Way road sign outside Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium goes missing

Legendary manager Fergie, 76, left the football world stunned on Saturday after he was rushed to hospital with a brain haemorrhage.

The winner of 13 Premier League titles collapsed at home and underwent emergency surgery before being placed in an induced coma.

Sir Alex is now said to be awake and talking but remains in intensive care.

A source told The Sun: “The prognosis is good and his closest friends in football are being kept abreast of any developments.”

However, a sign outside Old Trafford bearing his name has now mysteriously disappeared.

The Sir Alex Ferguson Way road was opened five years ago by the man himself.

But one of the two signs which adorn the passage has gone walkies.
