Filip Chytil scored the winning goal 4 minutes 32 seconds into the third period to rally the Rangers to a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
Jimmy Vesey also scored and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 16 shots to help the Rangers win their sixth straight at home. They have also won eight of their last 10 over all (8-1-1). The 19-year-old Chytil, the 21st overall pick in the 2017 N.H.L. draft, scored for the fourth straight game, the first teenager in franchise history to do so.
Tyler Seguin scored on a power play early in the second period to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. Ben Bishop made 12 saves before leaving after two periods with a lower body injury. Anton Khudobin stopped nine of the 10 shots he faced in the third.
The Stars, whose two-game win streak ended, fell to 3-3-2 in their last eight.
Chytil put the Rangers ahead with a snap shot from the top of the left circle. Before shooting, he cut behind Stars defenseman Joel Hanley, in effect using him as a screen.
Seguin scored 2:17 into the second. He ripped a laser from the left face-off dot. It was Seguin’s seventh goal of the season, his second on the power play, and came 44 seconds after Bishop’s right-pad save on Brett Howden’s short-handed attempt.
Vesey tied it with his seventh goal of the season 7:21 later as he twisted his body around Stars defenseman Roman Polak before backhanding a loose puck past Bishop while falling to the ice.
Lundqvist kept the game even, making a spectacular glove save on Miro Heiskanen from the slot with 1:05 left in the period. The Rangers will host the Islanders on Wednesday night.
