Teen star Madueke snubbed Man United for PSV and is now mentored by Red Devils legend Van Nistelrooy

NONI MADUEKE left England for the fast-track to senior football – but is now getting mentored by a Premier League legend.

The teenage winger, who dramatically fired England Under-17s to the Euros during the last international break, has been taken under the wing of Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV Eindhoven.

Van Nistelrooy is starting his coaching career at his old club and has struck up a close relationship with Madueke since the youngster arrived from Tottenham last summer.

With 150 goals for Manchester United, RVN has plenty of experience to pass on and Madueke is benefitting from it.

Madueke, 17, got lucrative offers to stay in the Premier League last summer but chose to go to Holland as the path to first-team football is clearer.

Just one look at Mark van Bommel’s squad shows he is all about promoting youth, with Cody Gakpo (19) and Mohammed Ihattaren (17) bright prospects that have been given their chance to impress during a title challenge.

Madueke could be the next off their production line if his progress continues.

The left-footed winger has the attributes to be another English youngster impressing abroad – and the athleticism to make it quicker than the Premier League.

His hero is Van Nistelrooy’s ex-United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and his coach will be passing on how dedicated the Portuguese forward was to becoming the best.

It helps that Van Bommel helped recruit Madueke when he was working in the Academy before getting the big job this season.

Everton technical director Marcel Brands also played a role in persuading Madueke that Dutch football was the best place for him to start before he left for Merseyside.

Their paths may cross again as Noni will be tracked by the English clubs who missed out on his signature this time.

But for the time being the youngster has settled in very quickly at Philips Stadion, with the help of Van Nistelrooy, and the Premier League’s loss is PSV’s gain.
