The most likely transfer destinations for Sergio Aguero with Barcelona, Real Madrid & PSG leading race for City legend

SERGIO AGUERO will leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

But his next destination is still unknown with several clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all tipped to make an approach.

The Argentine has scored 257 goals in 384 appearances for the club since his £36million arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

He's helped the club to FOUR Premier League titles, FIVE League Cups and ONE FA Cup success during the 2018-19 campaign.

But with less than 100 days remaining on his deal, which expires in June, Aguero has been told that there will be no renewal.

The announcement has sparked interest from around the world and bookmakers Betfair think Barcelona are the leading contenders for his signature at 11/10.

Ronald Koeman has made no secret of his desire to sign a centre-forward and Aguero could fit the bill to link up with compatriot Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp.

La Liga rivals Real Madrid are next in the betting market, priced at 7/2 to lure Aguero to the Bernabeu.

Mauricio Pochettino's PSG are available at 5/1 with a return to his native Argentina the next most likely scenario at 15/2.

Inter Milan and David Beckham's MLS franchise Inter Miami are priced at 12/1 and 16/1 respectively with Chelsea the Premier League's leading contenders at 16/1.

Manchester United are further back at 20/1 with Arsenal the outsiders of the chasing pack at 25/1.

Betfair Spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said: "Manchester City have announced that Sergio Aguero will be leaving the club at the end of the season and we make Barcelona the even money favourites to sign him.

"It looks as though a move back to Spain for the Argentine is on the cards, as Real Madrid are also in the running as second favourites at 5/2.

"A stay in the Premier League looks unlikely with Chelsea 16/1 and next door neighbours Manchester United 20/1 to sign the record goal scorer."

Aguero announced his departure on social media on Monday night, he wrote: "When a cycle comes to an end, many sensations arise.

"A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole ten seasons – unusual for a professional player this day and age.

"Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which i was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love the club – people who will always be in my heart.

"I was to join during the reconstruction era of 2011, and with the guidance of the owners and the contributions of many players, we earned a place among the greatest of the world.

"The task to maintain this well-deserved privileged position will remain on others.

"As for myself, I will continue to give it my utmost for the rest of the season to win more titles and bring more joy to the fans.

"Then, a new stage with new challenges will begin, and I am fully ready to face them with the same passion and professionalism that I have always dedicated to continue competing at the highest level."
