Tottenham 0 Newcastle 1 LIVE REACTION: Joelinton’s first-half strike gives Steve Bruce’s side much needed victory but Spurs denied late penalty by VAR – The Sun

SPURS welcome Newcastle to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Mauricio Pochettino's men picked up a valuable point from the champions last time out and welcome a Magpies side who look woefully out of form.

Steve Bruce's team were walloped at Norwich last weekend and will have to put in a much better showing if they're to escape with anything from this one.

  • Tottenham take on Newcastle at 4.30pm today.
  • You can catch this game live on Sky Sports Main Event, Premier League and Ultra HD.
  • Part of Sky's Super Sunday programme, Sky customers can watch on the move by downloading Sky Go.
  • Those who don't have a package can stream by grabbing a NOW TV pass from just £8.99.

Sean Longstaff on the result: “That is massive, it is a massive three points. We are buzzing to get the result and now it's time to push on.

“In Newcastle everything gets blown out of proportion a bit.

“There has been a lot of complaints about us as a team and the management but today's result just shows what sort of team we are and the commitment we have going forwards.

“It’s a tough time but you can see that the away ends are always packed, you see how many people are there and they are a massive part of the club.”

Steve Bruce will breathe a huge sigh of relief as he gets his first win in charge of his boyhood club.

Joelinton netted his first goal for Newcastle and the travelling fans continue to sign away!

A special goes to Paul Dummett who was simply superb.

Spurs had 80 per cent of possession, but had just two shots on target.

They face Arsenal next Sunday, and could be without Kyle Walker-Peters after he went off with a suspected hamstring injury.

90+6: Longstaff goes down in the corner and Spurs break.

Lucas shots at goal, but once again Newcastle throw their bodies in the line and block.

    And there's the whistle!

What a result for Newcastle, and it's fully deserved!

90+5: Almiron wins a free-kick by Spurs' corner flag.

All they need to do is keep the ball in the corner.
