The only contract Mets should offer Trevor Bauer: Sherman
Trevor Bauer sure knows how to have the masses torturously hanging onto his every move.
In the lead up to Bauer’s decision to sign with the Dodgers, the 2019 Cy Young winner had fanbases from New York to Los Angeles on the edge of their seat and looking for clues as to which team he would pick.
Bauer’s website had seemingly crashed as of 2:10 p.m. Friday, but not before taking fans on an emotional roller coaster. First, sleuths discovered the website had listed a signed Mets hat as a giveaway. When one fan, @mikef_52, signed up for the giveaway, he seemingly got an automated email from Bauer’s website with the nugget, “I can’t wait to take the mound in New York!”
Soon after, the Mets hat giveaway was gone from the site and replaced by a signed Dodgers hat giveaway. It could have been a premature posting or a master troll by Bauer and his marketing team.
Either way, fans weren’t the only ones waiting on Bauer’s announcement.
News of Bauer’s decision was expected to come at some point on Friday. The Post reported Friday morning that the Mets had given Bauer a noon deadline to accept their offer.
