Unseen footage shows Bruno Fernandes mistake for Leicester goal during Man Utd draw before Portugal ace blames Fred

BRUNO FERNANDES could be for the high jump – as new footage shows him leaping out of a tackle before a goal he blamed on Fred.

Fernandes skipped a winnable challenge with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – as Leicester broke to score in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

The Portugual superstar immediately turned accusingly to fellow Old Trafford midfielder Fred.

But after a revealing clip emerged on social media fans pointed the finger in the OPPOSITE direction.

One posted: "LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY!!

"WATCH how Bruno on the RW ducks out of a clear 50/50 with Dewsbury-Hall who wants it more but as soon as the goal goes in Bruno turns to blame Fred! I can't stand this lack of accountability. Fred should of screamed "your a sh*tbag!" to Bruno."

And another said: "That's pretty 50/50 to me, all he needs to do is get a touch on it and Fred is away with it."

Fernandes has just signed a new five-year Old Trafford contract until 2026.

But even that deal split supporters.

Some claimed he's been United's main man since he arrived from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.

But others criticised Old Trafford chiefs for making such a big decision before appointing a new permanent manager in the summer.

'Flabbergasted' Arsenal legend Paul Merson even argued that United did it 'off the cuff' as he slated Fernandes for his 'moaning'.

And there was more controversy after his weekend antics.

Kelechi Iheanacho's superb diving header from James Maddison's cross put Leicester in front at the weekend just eight seconds after Fernandes' hurdled his way out of a sliding tackle from Dewsbury-Hall.

But three minutes later it was Fernandes' shot that Kasper Schmeichel pushed out for Fred to level.

United fans, though, still turned their ire on the Portuguese hero for his earlier failure.

And they were bemused at why he thought Fred was  responsible.

One said: "Bruno still running while Leicester player already on the ground to stop the ball? Plus Fred never passed the ball to Bruno, it was cleared by a Leicester defender."

Another argued: "I play every week, it's a dangerous challenge to go into but there's no reason why Bruno can't go to ground there, he sends most the game there anyway, don't see why he couldnt this time

But a few observers believed Fernandes was right to avoid the challenge – to prevent possible injury.

This post summed that view up: "He doesn't get to the ball first, he breaks an ankle if he doesn't back out."
