Washington marching band won’t travel to Apple Cup game after bus crash

The University of Washington marching band canceled its trip to Pullman, Washington, for the Apple Cup after a charter bus carrying some of its members crashed Thursday night.

The university announced in a statement Friday that the band would no longer travel to Washington State for Friday night's rivalry game after the bus rolled over on Interstate 90, resulting in the hospitalization of 47 of the vehicle's 56 passengers. Most of them have since been released; Two passengers remained in the hospital as of Friday morning with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the school.

"The Husky Marching Band is like a family, and we do everything together," Washington's director of athletic bands Brad McDavid said in a statement released by the school. "With that in mind, the band will not attend the 2018 Apple Cup game in respect and consideration of the recovery our students and staff need following our bus accident last night."
