Gray, signed for £18.5million by Marco Silva last summer, scored his fifth goal of the season on Saturday — in only his second Prem start since Gracia arrived as boss in January.
The ex-Burnley ace, 26, said: “I’d like to have had more games — I’ve not featured much since January — but it’s good to get on the scoresheet.
“Five is not the best number. I’d like to score in every game and hopefully I can do it next week.
“This was a big opportunity for us to get the three points in our last home game.
“We could have reached the 40 points a few weeks ago and pushed up the table, especially after the start we had to the season.
“But it was a good win and we needed it.
“The boys dug in and that’s what it takes as we’ve conceded a lot of late goals. Hopefully that is a lesson for us.”
Gracia said he was “proud” of his side for digging deep.

He added: “I trust all my players, many of them don’t have the chance to play during the season.
“The most important thing is the team.
“This is the moment where good professionals, good players, show all the work they did.
“I am very happy for Andre.”
