Watford and Bournemouth leading race to sign Celtic's £10million-rated star midfielder Callum McGregor

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is keen to land the much-improved midfielder, 24, for next season as he looks to shake up his side and bring in new legs.

Bournemouth may lose Harry Arter in the summer and other squad men will move on, leaving space for McGregor.

And the Hornets — with former Bhoys striker Tommy Johnson scouting for them — are also buzzing about McGregor, who can play central or wide midfield and is starring for Brendan Rodgers’ team.

McGregor has already played in England for Notts County in a loan spell and has an appetite to try his luck over the border again.

Celtic would look for a decent fee for a player who has three years left on his contract at Parkhead but the Premier League pair will fight to get him.

The Scottish international has starred under Rodgers this season, amassing a whopping 51 appearances in all competitions.

And McGregor has had his most fruitful campaign in front of goal to date – banging in 11 goals and chalking up eight assists.
