WWE news: Rey Mysterio set for stunning WWE return after signing two-year deal

The high-flying star has allegedly penned a two-year contract to rejoin the wrestling company.

According to Wrestling Standard, Mysterio’s new deal will begin on August 1.

And he is rumoured to be making his triumphant return on the first episode of SmackDown following next month’s SummerSlam on the 21st.

The 43-year-old, a three-time world champion, is believed to have met with WWE chiefs ten days ago when Raw was broadcast from his hometown in San Diego, California.

And the two parties were able to thrash out an agreement to bring the popular ace back.

Mysterio made a surprise return at the Royal Rumble in January to the delight of fans.

That led to rumours of another potential bout at WrestleMania 34 in April.

Despite that failing to happen, he did feature in another one-off appearance at the Greatest Royal Rumble Match in Saudi Arabia in May.

Mysterio left WWE in 2015 after 13 years working for Vince McMahon and has since participated for a number of promotions including Lucha Underground and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
