WWE release 7ft giant Big Cass following his defeat against Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank

The 30-year-old – who stands at a whopping 7ft – has been plagued by a knee injury over the last year.

He only returned to the ring on May 29, after suffering a torn ACL in August during a match against former tag team partner Enzo Amore.

The WWE said in a brief statement: "WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass)."

Cass has lost in back-to-back pay-per-view events against Bryan, but none would have assumed he would have been axed following Sunday's defeat.

The New Yorker hasn't released a statement of his own thus far, with the reasoning for his WWE departure not yet known.

Cass gained huge popularity with Amore from WWE NXT – with the duo winning the NXT Year-End Award for Tag Team of the Year in 2015.

Ronda Rousey has been suspended for 30 days by WWE following her actions at Money in the Bank – for launching an attack on Alexa Bliss.

And Dolph Ziggler was crowned as the new Intercontinental champion after pinning Seth Rollins.

While John Cena told ex Nikki Bella he would undo his vasectomy so the pair could have children in another twist in their relationship.
