WWE star AJ Styles suffers gruesome wound on live TV against Shinsuke Nakamura during title match at Backlash pay-per-view

The Phenomenal One took on Shinsuke Nakamura at the Backlash pay-per-view in what proved to be a ferocious no disqualification encounter.

But an accident in the encounter left Styles with blood pouring from his cheek after a spot went wrong.

Nakamura was stood in the corner waiting to hit the champ with a Kinshasa – a brutal knee to the face.

However, Styles had other ideas and flung a chair towards his foe as the challenger raced towards him.

The steel hit the spot right on Japanese superstars leg.

But the impact caused the chair to bounce straight back to whack AJ in the face.

The force cut his left cheek wide open as the cameras struggled to hide the damage of the wound.
