So much for the highly anticipated series between the Yankees and Nationals, two possible World Series contenders.
The one-and-a-half games, which were scheduled to be played today after Tuesday night’s series opener was called in the sixth inning, have been postponed to June 18 due to more inclement weather in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, the teams announced. The semi-doubleheader will commence that day at Nationals Park at 5:05 p.m. ET.
The postponement gives the Yankees two consecutive off days after storming back to a 3-3 tie with the Nationals on Tuesday, as a severe storm set in and cut the game short.
The Yankees resume play Friday, when they open a three-game series against the Royals in Kansas City.
