Alcohol being investigated as factor in deadly motorcycle crash: Calgary police

Police are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor in a hit-and-run collision in Calgary on Monday evening that killed a motorcyclist.

Emergency crews were called to Peigan Trail and 36 Street Southeast at about 8:30 p.m.

Few details are known about the circumstances surrounding the collision, but police said two vehicles were involved: a motorcycle and an SUV.

Police said they were called to a crash at Peigan Trail and 36 Street S.E. at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday night.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Calgary Police Service.

CPS said one person was arrested later in the evening when a red SUV with front-end damage was discovered in the community of Erin Woods and that charges are pending.

Officers closed the intersection for several hours while they investigated the collision.
