Belgian fan sparks controversy by blacking up to look like his favourite player Romelu Lukaku

  • Fan Jeroen Buggenhoudt dressed up as his favourite player Romelu Lukaku
  • He arrived in Kaliningrad Airport in a full Belgium kit ahead of tonight’s game
  • He stopped off at the airport’s make up concession and asked for a full make over

A white Belgian football fan has sparked controversy after he ‘blacked up’ ahead of tonight’s World Cup game against England so he could look like his hero Romelu Lukaku.

The fan, Jeroen Buggenhoudt, attended the concession counter at the airport in Kaliningrad and asked the make up artists to colour his face.

Mr Buggenhoudt posted several photographs of his stunt on Twitter.

Several staff at the airport laughed as one of their colleagues applied the make up to Mr Buggenhoudt’s face

After receiving the controversial make over, Mr Buggenhoudt post with staff at the airport

The Belgian football fan was wearing a full kit featuring his idol’s  number 9 jersey.

It is not known whether Mr Buggenhoudt was allowed to attend the stadium with his offensive make-up.  

Unfortunately for Mr Buggenhoudt, his idol, Romelu Lukaku was not playing tonight as he picked up an injury earlier in the tournament.
