Bizarre reason why Greggs has installed one of its signs wrong way round

Greggs has installed one of its signs the wrong way round – for a bizarre reason.

Customers in Newcastle had to do a double take when they saw the brand’s logo in Northumberland Street.

But it’s all for a clever marketing opportunity as huge crowds are set to gather near it this afternoon, reports Chronicle Live.

During the big Fenwick’s window reveal – in which the store is famous for its show stopping festive display – the logo will appear the correct way in the reflection.

And to tie in with the annual curtain drop, Greggs is also launching its popular Christmas treat, the Festive Bake, six days early for hungry Geordies.

It will also be giving away 500 of the bakes for free.

Because of Greggs’ close proximity to the Fenwick’s display, its logo is often seen in people’s pictures of reveal night as they take the first shots of what’s behind the curtain.

The only problem is that positioned its usual way round, the Greggs sign looks backwards in the window and also in people’s pictures.

So the bakers have flipped it round – meaning while it will look backwards if you’re looking at it straight on, if you look at it in Fenwick’s Window it will now look the right way round.

If you’re struggling to get your head round the sign change, it won’t be a permanent fixture.
