Demand for the service in the US has now grown so big, dedicated companies have been launched to help those who would rather pay up than queue up.
Hard-up students are among those willing to get out of bed in the early hours to collar a prime spot outside department stores throughout the sale season.
The concept is simple, people hire the sitters to wait in line for them and then switch spots once the sitter reaches the front.
"People don’t have a lot of time," Jennifer Goff, the founder and CEO of Skip the Line told the Business Insider.
