Bring us sunshine! Britain will bask in a heatwave all week with temperatures climbing to 75F as sunburn warning is issued

  • Today a warm and bright day for southern regions is expected, with good sunny spells and gentle winds
  • However, there will be more in the way of cloud further north with light rain affecting Northern Ireland, and northern and western coasts of Scotland
  • Tonight, rain will continue across western and northern regions of the UK, with a few heavy bursts likely

However, there will be more in the way of cloud further north with light rain affecting Northern Ireland, and northern and western coasts of Scotland.  

There will be moderate south-westerly winds.

Tonight, rain will continue across western and northern regions of the UK, with a few heavy bursts likely. 

Moderate southerly winds. Further south it will be largely clear through the night with only a little patchy cloud.

Tomorrow, it will continue to be very wet for some, with further rain for north-western regions, heavy at times. 

It will be generally brighter elsewhere with sunny spells but also some heavy showers developing by evening, possibly thundery at times particularly for south-western areas. Breezy 

Rain will ease in the north-west during Tuesday, with sunny spells for much of the country, and heavy showers developing in the south, possibly thundery. 

Wednesday will see further intense thundery showers in the south during the evening. Otherwise, a fine, bright and warm day with good sunny spells.

Met Office meteorologist Martin Bowles said: ‘At this time of year the sun is quite intense, the radiation is quite strong with high UV levels.

‘People who are not used to being out in the sunshine could be at risk of sunburn so should use lots of sun cream and wear a hat and sunglasses.

‘Temperatures won’t be too high, but it’s going to be warm so lots of water is good.’
