British filmmaker fights for life after plunging from Majorca balcony

British filmmaker Carl Whiteley is fighting for his life after falling off a Majorca balcony.

The 39-year-old, originally from Crowle, north Lincolnshire, wrote the script for The Empire, described as a comedy mash-up of Star Wars and The Office.

Mr Whiteley has posted several recent photos on social media showing him alongside Hollywood stars, including Johnny Depp and Sylvester Stallone.

Police sources said neighbours called the emergency services late on Tuesday night.

Local reports said Mr Whiteley plunged and hit his head.

He was lying critically injured on the ground outside his apartment home in Palma’s Old Town when officers arrived.

Mr Whiteley was stabilised at the scene after being diagnosed with a severe head injury.

He was admitted to Majorca’s Son Espases Hospital he remains in intensive car with his condition is described as critical.

Local paper Ultima Hora published a picture of the injured man with Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, saying: “The British businessman is very well known and is friends with international celebrities and actors.”

Carl’s sister Emma has now started a GoFundMe page  to raise money for the family to visit him in Spain.

"Our brother is amazing and I know he’s helped a lot of people and a lot of charities," said the message on the page.
